In the never-ending pursuit of over the top “hypercar” chest thumping comes the Hennessey Performance Engineering “Venom GT” destroying the two-seat “Production Car” Guinness World Record for quickest 0-300kph (186mph) sprint on January 10th. We’ll give them every hundredth of a second in this accomplishment, no doubt, they averaged 13.63s in two runs (down and back to negate wind advantage) at Ellington Airport in Houston, Texas.
Our problem is that idea that this modified Lotus is somehow a Hennessey production car. Street-legal? Sure. But dropping Hennessey’s Venom 1000 Twin Turbo engine in the back of a Lotus Exige is pushing the definition.
No doubt the results are fucking awesome.
