Maserati Kubang Concept

Maserati brought an SUV to the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. Seems everyone is slowly getting into the SUV market again, again…

The Kubang concept idea was originally displayed in 2003, and looks to be becoming a reality thanks to the Jeep/Chrysler relationship with Maserati.

I don’t know if I’m sold on this, but seeing as it’s not yet set for production (Tentative release date of 2013) maybe there’s hope yet. What we do know:

  • Ferrari built Maserati engine.
  • 8 speed automatic gearobx (too many in my opinion)
  • Adjustable steering, brakes and suspension, courtesy of those components being built in Modena (along side the engine).
  • And that’s about all we know at the moment.

Let’s just hope that the Chrysler/Jeep side is strictly for financing, and plays no part in the actual chassis or driveline development. Expect pricing to be the standard Maserati fare. $$.

What do you think?
